33,974 Rice Farmers to Benefit from CBN Anchor Borrowers Loan – Chairman RIFAN says
33,974 rice farmers are set to benefit from CBN’s Anchors Borrowers loan scheme in Zamfara state; Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) chairman, Alhaji Isyaku Ajiya-Anka says.
According to him, the exercise soon to begin will be conducted with the use of biometric data capture to identify the farmers accounted for the scheme within the state.
Ajiya also said each farmer would receive 1 pumping machine, 30 kilograms of rice seedlings, herbicide, pesticide, farming services, which included ploughing, harrowing, planting, harvesting and 6 bags of fertiliser. The farmers would not get the cash directly. For farmers who do not require all the services, the cost of services not required will be used to offset part of the loan. He added.
The total loan package for the scheme is N219, 329.50 per hectare.
State Coordinator CBN Anchor Borrowers, Aliyu Hafiz said every farmer has a card containing all details of identification and the required quantities of inputs he should be given.
He further explained that the distribution of the inputs has begun in seven local government areas of the state namely; Gusau, Bungudu, Gummi, Bakura, Anka, Kaura Namoda and Talata Mafara.
