Davido’s single ‘IF’ is number 1 on Shazam
Nigerian singer, Davido became the first Nigerian artist ever to be number one on the Shazam the charts in the US as he had his hit song ‘IF’ climbing up to the top of the chart for songs listened to by people in the United States.
Shazam, a popular app used by millions of music lovers around the world, identifies a song title and the singer while the song is being played on another device.
As at Thursday, October 11, the song stood at number one on the app’s chart above Lil Wayne’s hit ‘Uproar’, Travis Scott’s ‘Sicko Mode’ and ‘Backin It Up’ by Pardison Fontaine featuring Cardi B, among others.
In elation, Davido swiftly reacted to the news on his Instagram page saying: “We got the most Shazam song in New York!!! Its Lit!!” “My old records Just breaking, imagine what the new ones will do!” The feat has added more he clinched the Best International Act trophy at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.
The ‘Dami duro Crooner’, was also recently nominated, alongside Nigerian female music sensation Tiwa Savage for the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs) in the Best African Act category recently.
