Beyonce, Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran to honour Nelson Mandela at South African concert
Beyonce, Jay-Z and Ed Sheeran are among the stars slated to perform at a South African concert the Nelson Mandela Concert on December 2.
The concert which is in honour of the life and legacy of Mandela, a century after he was born, will also feature other influential personalities like Oprah Winfrey who will deliver a keynote address about Mandela’s legacy at the festival.
The Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 will be hosted in Johannesburg by South Africa’s Motsepe Foundation, which seeks to reduce poverty through education and job creation.
The foundation is partnering with Global Citizen, an international advocacy group that supports sustainable development goals set by the United Nations. The group is also promoting other events ahead of the festival.
Mandela, the Nobel Peace Prize winner was South Africa’s first black president. He died in 2013 at age 95.
