Eight Tunisian Startups Graduate from Flat6Labs Tunis

• Eight Tunisian startups graduated from the fifth cohort of Tunisian accelerator Flat6Labs Tunis. They include start-ups from the automotive, robotics, edtech, fintech, and tourism industries.
• On Wednesday, 20th May, the virtual graduation ceremony for the fifth cohort of the 16-week accelerator was held.
• 36 Tunisian startups were chosen from 1500 applications which the accelerator recieved for its five cohorts. Each startup received an initial investment of 200,000 Tunisian dinars (over $65,000).

Eight Tunisian startups graduated from the fifth cohort of Tunisian accelerator Flat6Labs Tunis. They include start-ups from the automotive, robotics, edtech, fintech, and tourism industries.

On Wednesday, 20th May, the virtual graduation ceremony for the fifth cohort of the 16-week accelerator was held.

In a blog post on Medium last week, the accelerator said it had worked to extend its network by actively fostering new collaborations with stakeholders.

Its key partners are Meninx Holding, the Tunisian American Enterprise Fund (TAEF), BIAT Bank and the International Financial Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank which entered the fund last year.

The eight startups from the fifth cohort of Flat6Labs Tunis include those from the automotive, robotics, edtech, fintech and tourism sectors.

It said the recent collaboration with the IFC involves a $1-million investment in the Anava Seed Fund managed by Flat6Labs Tunis to promote women and youth initiatives as well as the accelerator’s technical support.

With 36 Tunisian startups chosen, the accelerator received more than 1500 applications for its five cohorts. Each startup received an initial investment of 200,000 Tunisian dinars (over $65,000). They also had access to technical training, coaching and a network of investors.

The startups that graduated from the fifth cohort are:

• AutoPlus, founded by Amin Mliki in 2017, is an online platform for selling cars.
• Junior Robotics Lab is an edtech founded in 2017 by Atef Ben Bakri and Sami Turki, which helps schools teach learners the basics of robotics and coding through an online platform.
• OnBoard, established in 2018 by Safwen Bouali, Cherif Redissi, and Amine Troudi, helps hardware and manufacturing companies turn training manuals into web-based manuals for consumers to connect with.
• SeekMake, founded in 2019 by Adel Ayari, provides users with access to devices such as 3D printers and laser cutters.
• Sghartoon, founded in 2018 by Hidayet Ayadi, Saif Ben Achour and Oualid Khayati, helps parents detect signs of dyslexia in their children through its mobile app.
• Sqoin, founded in 2019 by Bacem Bergaoui and Mohamed Ali Belajouza, is a fintech startup
• Study.tn is building a Coursera for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The startup was founded in 2018 by Nidhal Abidi, Nadhir Abidi and Salim Hadrich.
• Wantotrip, founded in 2019 by Chahrazed Remadi and Makrem Hermassi, is an online travel platform.
