‘AMCON didn’t seize my property,’ Lifestyle Entrepreneur Toke Makinwa says

Nigerian author and multimedia personality, Toke Makinwa, has refuted viral media reports that her residence was taken over by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) over alleged unpaid bank loans.

AMCON is a government agency set up in 2010 to revive Nigeria’s financial system by resolving the non-performing loan assets of the banks in the Nigerian economy.

The Corporation reportedly took over the property occupied by Toke in the Ikoyi area of Lagos, on Monday, July 27, 2020.

The report also claimed that the property in question belonged to an Oil and Gas magnate, Festus Fadeyi, who is believed to own the Pan Ocean Group, an oil exploration and production company in Nigeria.

In an exclusive statement sent to Business Elites Africa (BEA) and signed by Toke’s Business Manager, Andrea Manuela Giaccaglia, she said the viral story is false, affirming that the OAP owns her residence.

“It’s actually very very sad that a lot of your colleagues do not want to do the right thing by verifying before posting a story… It’s great to see we actually have some real journalists out there that are willing to only write the truth.

“To answer your question, this story is false, Ms. Toke’s residence is very much her own and has NOT been taken or seized or anything of that nature by AMCON”, Giaccaglia told BEA.

Toke Makinwa is a Nigerian radio personality, television host, vlogger, lifestyle entrepreneur and author. She is known for hosting The Morning Drive on Rhythm 93.7 FM and for her YouTube vlog series ‘Toke Moments’. She released her book ‘On Becoming’ in November 2016.
