Rob Shuter Resigns from MTN Nigeria’s Board of Directors
MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has announced the resignation of Rob Shuter from its board of directors. Shuter’s resignation took effect on September 1st, 2020, approximately three years after he was appointed to the board in 2017.
A statement that was signed by MTN Nigeria’s Company Secretary, Uto Upkanah, said MTN wishes him all the best in his future endevours. The statement also noted that the South African demonstrated exemplary leadership while he was with the company.
“This is to inform the Nigerian Stock Exchange (the Exchange), the investing public and other stakeholders of the resignation of Mr Rob Shuter from the Board of MTN Nigeria with effect from September 1, 2020. The Board of MTN Nigeria would like to express its appreciation to Mr Shuter for his exemplary leadership, focus and commitment to the Company. The Board wishes him the best in his future endeavours,” part of the statement by the company said.
Just last month, Shuter also resigned from his position as the President and Chief Executive Officer of MTN Group Limited, the parent company of MTN Nigeria. As Business Elites Africa previously reported, Shuter was succeeded by Ralph Muputa who, until his recent promotion, was the Group’s former Chief Financial Officer
Rob Shutter is a South African business executive who has had many years of professional experience. Prior to his stint at MTN Group Limited, he worked as the Head of Investment Banking at Standard Bank. He was also the Managing Director of Nedbank between 2000 and 2009, after which he held several positions at Vodacom, including that of CEO.
