GNEC Media Group Names Lekan Ogunbanwo as new CEO of PlusTV Africa

Lekan Ogunbanwo has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of PlusTV Africa, one of Nigeria’s biggest new media platforms. The appointment was announced by Lateef Fagbemi, the Chairman of General News & Entertainment Company (GNEC) Media Group, owners of PlusTV Africa.

“We are delighted to welcome Mr. Ogunbanwo to the helms of affairs of PlusTV Africa. As an organization, we know that the experience which he brings to bear will help position and enhance the station’s creative and premium content delivery,” Fagbemi said in statement that was seen by Business Elites Africa.

In his acceptance, Ogunbanwo said he is very pleased to become a part of the PlusTV team. He also expressed his willingness to contribute his skills towards ensuring that the company becomes “the pride of Nigeria and by extension, Africa.”

Lekan Ogungbanwo has over forty years worth of broadcasting experience, having started out as a Trainee Announcer with the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation in 1980. He later served as the General Manager of Radio Lagos/Eko FM between 1997 and 2002, amongst other top positions in the government.

He graduated from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language. He also obtained a degree from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism.
