Meet Alloysius Attah, Co-Founder/CEO of Ghanaian Agritech Startup Farmerline
Alloysius Attah is a trailblazer in the African Agritech sector. His startup, Farmerline, is effectively changing the face of agriculture for thousands of farmers across Africa. With his user-centric approach to creating solutions, this under-40 icon will remain relevant and successful in Africa’s business space.
With more than a decade of farming experience under his belt, Alloysius Attah understands the challenges faced by farmers in Ghana and across Africa. As a child, he grew up on his aunt’s farm in rural Ghana where he witnessed first-hand the experiences of small scale farmers. By the time he got into college, he was determined to give back to the world in which he grew up, and that inspired the creation of his first two start-ups; Alloyworld—a video and photography production company, and iCottage Networks—a web and mobile startup.

Alloysius believes that agriculture needs to be attractive enough for youth to delve into it full-time, and this was one of the reasons why he created Farmerline in 2013, in partnership with Emmanuel Owusu Addai. The company was launched to support small-scale farmers, like his aunt, around the region, and today supports over 200,000 farmers in five countries around Africa.
As the chief executive officer of Farmerline, Attah believes in user-centric tech solutions, a quality that has greatly influenced the success of his venture. Today, he is a recipient of multiple awards, including the Echoing Green Global Fellowship and the Cordes Fellowship. He was also a finalist of the HRM Prince of Wales and Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entre preneur Award at the Cambridge Institute of Sustainable Leadership.
In a 2017 interview, the agritech entrepreneur revealed that his “role as a leader has evolved from being the hardest working person in the room to being good at allocating the right resource to the right opportunity”
