How Esther Cobbah Built Africa’s most Dependable Crisis and Reputation Management Company

Time, they say is money. The Business Elites Africa (BEA) team never imagined it would be easy to land an interview with Esther Cobbah, a veteran communications expert and an accomplished entrepreneur. It must be tough being the Chief Executive Officer of an internationally-reputed company that has consistently delivered excellence since 1989. Totally understandable!

It took some back-and-forth emails and long hours of waiting for responses but, eventually, she let us into her world. Esther shares her personal story of success and dished invaluable business lessons.

She grew up learning the basics of business from her entrepreneur mother. This experience formed the foundation of resilience and doggedness that has earned her a seat at the table along with local and international industry chieftains, and several glamorous awards to show for it.

After a successful career at US multinational, Chevron, where she served as the first External Affairs Manager, Esther launched her own firm, Strategic Communications Africa (Stratcomm Africa), a communication and reputation management agency based in Ghana. More than two decades later, the company has become an industry-size authority in Africa, serving over 150 local and international corporate clients.

Esther, a Fellow of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana, holds degrees from the University of Ghana, Legon and Cornell University. She was listed in the second publication of 100 Most Influential African Women in 2020 by Avance Media
