Ecobank Transnational Appoints Hervé Assah as an Independent Non-Executive Director

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) announced yesterday that it had appointed Hervé S. Assah as an Independent Non-Executive Director. His appointment took effect immediately.

Hervé S. Assah, who is a citizen of Congo Brazzaville, is said to have nearly 4-decades cognate experience in senior management positions across different fields such as global trade development, public private partnerships in emerging markets, investment and financial advisory, regional development, and business strategy.

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Aequaria Capital, a fund management company operating across Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to this time, he worked with the World Bank in various senior management capacities, including as a Lead Private Sector Development Specialist, Country Manager and Resident Representative for Togo. He was a Senior Private Sector Development & Public Private Partnership Specialist for the World Bank between 2015 and 2020.

He had earlier worked with the African Development Bank between 2007 and 2010 as the Country Manager and Resident Representative for Nigeria. He was also an Investment Officer (Oil Gas & Mining Global Investment Department) at the International Finance Corporation, IFC.

While building strategic stakeholder relationships, he is also political and diplomatic savy, in addition to his expertise in financial analysis, risk management, strategic leadership. Mr. Assah served a long distinguished executive career in Development Finance with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the World Bank, during which he held the positions of Country Manager and Lead PPP Specialist of the Finance Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice, Country Manager of the African Development Bank in Nigeria, the largest and most diverse economy in Africa. Before joining the World Bank Group, he held various professional positions in investment banking and industry namely as a Vice President with BNP-Paribas with, Bankers Trust and advisor to various governments and major corporations in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and America. He also worked with the in-house investment Bank of Thales, the Global Electronics & Defence Company,” Hervé Assah wrote on his LinkedIn bio.

Note that he holds an MBA in Finance from The Wharton Business School of the University of Pensilvannia in the United States of America.
