Bukola Smith Appointed CEO of FSDH Merchant Bank

The Board of FSDH Merchant Bank has announced the appointment of Mrs Bukola Smith as its incoming Chief Executive Officer. She will take over from outgoing CEO, Mrs Hamda Ambah, who is slated to retire on April 27, 2021. Note that Mrs Ambah has been with the bank over the past 28 years.

A statement by FSDH Merchant Bank which was seen by Business Elites Africa, said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has already given the necessary regulatory approval to the appointment. The statement went further to note that “the Board of FSDH Merchant Bank welcomes Mrs. Smith on board and is confident that she will take the bank to even greater heights.”

Writing on LinkedIn, Mrs Bukola Smith reacted excitedly to the appointment, saying that she is “super excited to announce my appointment as the new MD/CEO of FSDH Merchant Bank from mid-April ,2021. Thus, bringing an end to 14 beautiful and impactful years at FCMB. Special thanks goes to all my friends and colleagues, who made my time at FCMB an amazing experience.

“It is a privilege to take over from a Super Mentor, Hamda Ambah who has done a great job in steering the ship over the years. I am deeply honoured at the responsibility to lead this establishment to greater heights of global success, and I look forward to continuing the excellent work already done.”

Note that Mrs Bukola Smith has about twenty eight years cognate experience in the banking sector. Prior to the appointment, she had worked with First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Ltd since 2006. She held different positions in the company and was in 2017 promoted to an Executive Director in charge of Business Development, a position that saw her overseeing as many as 200 branches across the country.

She had also had stints at Fidelity Bank Plc where she served as the Head of Treasury and Financial Institutions between 2002 and 2006. Learn more about her by visiting her LinkedIn page.
