Jerome Briet Appointed Marriot International’s Chief Development Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa

Marriott International Inc. has announced the appointment of Jerome Briet as its new Chief Development Officer in charge of Europe, Middle East & Africa. He is taking over from Carlton Ervin, who recently moved on to the role of Global Development Officer for Marriot International.

According to a press statement by the company which was seen by Business Elites Africa, Jerome Briet will be responsible for driving Marriott’s growth strategies and market position across the EMEA regions. He while also support the company’s global-wide development vision.

More so, Jerome Briet will also work to identify new opportunities for the Marriot International, and be responsible for shaping the strategic growth plan and leadership of the EMEA development team.

While commenting on Briet’s appointment, the President of Marriot International’s Europe, Middle East & Africa operations, Satya Anand, said “I am delighted that Jerome has stepped into the role to lead Marriott’s development strategy across EMEA. With his extensive knowledge of hotel development and acquisitions, and his remarkable track record of growth for Marriott International, I know Jerome will drive great success for the company in the region.”

Prior to his his latest appointment, Jerome Briet served as the Chief Development Officer for Marriot International’s Middle East and Africa operations. The statement by the company said he is expected to bring a wealth of experience and achievements from his previous job. He has over 15 years cognate experience in the hospitality industry.

Note that he joined Marriott in 2012, Jerome Briet has overseen tremendous growth in the Middle East and Africa, including some of the most renowned properties in the UAE such as Bulgari Resort & Residences Dubai, Marriott Hotel & Resort Palm Jumeirah, and The Ritz-Carlton properties in Ras Al Khaimah (Al Wadi Desert and Al Hamra Beach Resort).

He received a Bachelor’s degree in International Management from INSEEC University and also underwent an MBA programme in International Hospitality and Real Estate Management at the ESSEC Business School in Paris.
