New Pan-African Fintech Accelerator Launches in Nigeria

Nigeria’s GreenHouse Capital has launched a pan-African fintech accelerator programme, which will provide mentoring and funding for fintech startups across the continent.

GreenHouse Capital entered the scene in 2014 with its Africa-centric fintech fund and has focused on providing support for early-stage startups and innovative entrepreneurs in the tech ecosystem.  The investment firm has since funding some of the leading startups and companies in Africa such as Flutterwave, MAX.ng and Wallets Africa.

GreenHouse Lab, the acceleration arm of GreenHouse Capital, is powered by Google for Startups and has accelerated 15 outstanding African startups since its launch. The six-week programme will feature the most creative African startups, seasoned tech founders, worldwide investors, and world-class corporate partners.

“The launch of the GreenHouse Lab Fintech Accelerator marks a crucial step for the startup and venture capital industry in Africa. This programme will bring together the most innovative and exciting startups across Africa, as well as the leaders of some of Africa’s great success stories. Our goal with GreenHouse Lab is to create a platform for accelerating African and emerging market startups into world-class companies that can continue to compete on a global scale and attract global capital,” said Bunmi Akinyemiju, founding partner of GreenHouse Capital.

GreenHouse Capital’s philosophy of “founders backing founders” and the necessity of unifying Africa’s startup and founder ecosystem are embodied in the accelerator. The accelerator will feature private mentorship sessions with the founders of Y Combinator-backed startups, such as Tesh Mbaabu of MarketForce, Abdul Hassan of Mono, and John Oke of Wallets Africa, to support their objectives. These entrepreneurs will share their experiences, guidance, and knowledge with the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The accelerator will hold virtual deal days with worldwide investors and link programme participants with GreenHouse Capital and Venture Garden Group’s global investor and corporate network, in addition to mentorship and seminars on important areas of company growth.

Participants in the programme will also get Amazon Web Services and Google for Startups product credits, as well as an exclusive public relations strategy session with InsiderPR.

The application period is open through July 18th, and the programme will begin in August.
