The continent has a total number of eighteen billionaires with a combined net worth of $84.9 billion. Apart from the wealth of these business tycoons, some of the children of these African billionaires are making their own moves in the business world.

Aliko Dangote’s Children

Aliko Dangote is the richest man in Africa with a net worth of $13.9 billion. The business tycoon has three biological children and one adopted son. The three children are Fatima, Halima, and Mariya and his son, Abdulrahman Fasasi. Although, much is not known about Fasasi, here are his sisters.

Fatima Dangote

Fatima Dangote is Aliko Dangote’s eldest daughter. She received her foundational and tertiary schooling in the United Kingdom. After which she founded the Cupcake Factory, a Lagos-based confectionary firm. Fatima Dangote got married to Jamil Abubakar, a pilot and the son of the former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar on March 26, 2018. The wedding, which took place in eight separate venues, was attended by the society’s elite and the president of Nigeria, Muhamadu Buhari, served as her guardian.

Halima Dangote

Halima Dangote is the second daughter, a philanthropist and an entrepreneur. She earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from the American Intercontinental University in London, United Kingdom and her master’s degree in business administration from Webster College in London. She also attended Harvard, Oxford, and MIT’s leadership development programs. 

She works at the Dangote Group, an African conglomerate, as the Director of Commercial Operations. She is a member of the Dangote Group, Nascon, and Dangote Foundations boards of directors, as well as the Board Chairman of the Africa Centre in New York. She got married to Sulaiman Sani Bello in 2008 and have two children. 

Mariya Dangote

Mariya Dangote is the youngest daughter of Aliko Dangote. She had her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Coventry University in the United Kingdom. She is presently an executive of the Dangote Group, a multi-billion dollar company founded by her father, Aliko Dangote.

Nicky Oppenheimer’s Children

He is a South African billionaire with a net worth of $8.7 billion. The business mogul has only one child, Jonathan Oppenheimer.

Jonathan Oppenheimer

Jonathan Oppenheimer is the son of the third richest man in Africa, Nicky Oppenheimer. He has three children and was married to Jennifer Ward until her death in 2017. He serves as chairman and partner at Oppenheimer Partners. He is a philanthropist, an angel investor and a businessman.

He started his career at NM Rothschild & Sons and later went to Anglo America then De Beers, where he spent almost two decades in various top management positions in Southern Africa and London.

Strive Masiyiwa

Strive Masiyiwa is ranked the tenth richest African billionaire with a net worth of $2.7 billion. He is happily married to Tsitsi Masiyiwa and has six children: Tanya, Vimbai, Moses, Joanna, Sarah, and Esther.

Elizabeth Tanya Masiyiwa

Elizabeth Tanya Masiyiwa is the eldest daughter of Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa. She is the co-founder of Simba and Higherlife Foundation and the executive director of Delta Philanthropies. She is a member of the boards of Cassava Smartech and Ashesi Foundation, where she is the director of design and innovation. She also serves on the Leadership Council of Harvard University’s Center for Africa Studies.

Elizabeth Masiyiwa is a co-manager of a social impact investment fund that invests in Southern African economic development initiatives. She once worked as an analyst for UNICEF’s Innovation Venture Fund.

Vimbai Masiyiwa

Vimbai Masiyiwa is the second daughter of Strive Masiyiwa. She graduated from Bryant University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems degree. She also has a master’s in entrepreneurship/entrepreneurial studies from University College London.

Vimbai is the Chief Executive Officer of Batoka Hospitality Group. Batoka group, led by Masiyiwa, purchased Gorges Lodge, Little Gorges, and Zambezi Sands from Imvelo Safari Lodges at Victoria Falls in March 2021. The newly rebuilt Batoka Zambezi Sands River lodge will be revealed in March 2022 on the banks of the Zambezi River.
