5 Happiest Cities in Africa

Happiness is increasingly used as a metric of social progress and democracy, with several reports examining various countries and cities. Since its inception in 2012, the World Happiness Report has provided reports annually on the happiest cities in Africa and across the globe.

The ten happiest cities in Africa are determined by their respective index, GDP per capita, average life expectancy, trust in governance, freedom of expression and choice, the ability of the citizens to hold governments accountable, social assistance, and charity.

On these parameters, the cities on this list have outperformed the national average.
