Meet Adaeze Udensi, Power Lady of Titan Bank

Adaeze Udensi is the executive director of Titan Trust Bank. She brings a total of over 23 years of experience and knowledge to the financial services sector. 

Her background in banking and aggressive negotiation, risk management, sales, strategy, and corporate finance abilities has proved to be a good fit for the bank.

Adaeze Udensi has broad banking capabilities in the areas of private wealth management, company growth, credit, and marketing as well as retail, commercial, public sector, and E-business.

Her story has shown that you can overcome any situation with persistence, hard work, and pure drive.

The banking sector has been previously regarded as the sole domain of men, however, it has recently witnessed an avalanche of women, not just in the sector but also at the top of the corporate ladder.

Educational history

Adaeze Udensi holds two MBAs from Rivers State University of Science and Technology and Bangor University in the United Kingdom which is in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Later on, she went to University of Panama, where she graduated with a PhD in credit management. She pursued continuing education by studying executive management at the Kellogg School of Management, INSEAD, Harvard Business School, and Wharton School of Business.

She is a fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration, a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Scotland, a member of the Governing Council of The Chartered Institute of Nigeria (CIBN), and an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

Career

Before joining TITAN, she served as the Executive Director at Heritage Bank, where she was in charge of the South-South and South-East Directorate, as well as the Executive Compliance Officer.

She oversaw Heritage Bank’s retail operations at all 160 locations in Nigeria while acting as Managing Director in the CEO’s absence.

She spent 16 years at Zenith Bank, overseeing the growth of the bank’s Oil & Gas, public sector, commercial, and retail activities, propelling it to the second-largest portfolio. She progressed to General Manager before leaving in 2014.

Adaeze’s support for new businesses

Adaeze Udensi is passionate about assisting growing businesses. Under her direction, the bank’s strategy and consistency have been known to go beyond maximising the potential of the retail market, SMEs, and corporate clients.

Since small businesses felt excluded and unheard and no one was paying attention to them, she realised there was a gap in the retail sector. According to her, 

“Their pain resonated with us. We know that in the next ten to twenty years, these ones will be the big ones tomorrow but they are not getting enough attention.

“For instance, our number one question when we meet a client is – What is your pain point? and we work with them to administer a solution….and that is why we are taking that award- Best Trade Finance Provider in Nigeria, by Global Finance magazine, for the second time”.

Result-oriented banker

Her coworkers have characterised her as an aggressive and goal-oriented marketer, particularly for banking and financial services.

She is also at the vanguard of efforts to double the bank’s net income so that it can scale up while concentrating on growth. This is consistent with her results-driven approach, which has produced a successful track record in corporate growth and turnaround management.
