Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services (EMTS) Limited, trading as 9Mobile, has announced the appointment of Nkem Oni-Egboma as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With more than 31 years of experience in the private industry, the newly appointed CFO brings her years of experience in business strategy and development, international trade services, internal control and audit, treasury operations functions, and risk management to 9Mobile.
Given this, she has promised to use her well-rounded experience in the field to impact the company positively. She said, “I am very excited to be a part of the innovative 9mobile family. I look forward to working with a dedicated team as we move the company to its next phase of success”.

The newly appointed CFO of 9Mobile started her career at Zenith Bank in 1991 as a Treasury Operations Specialist after graduating in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University. She later attended the University of Lagos and earned a master’s degree in banking and finance.
Gradually, she built her career in the private sector and has about 31 years of experience in capacities such as team lead, deputy head lead services, and DGM/Zonal Head at Zenith Bank. In 2010, still under the umbrella of Zenith, she became the Managing Director of Zenith Pensions Custodian Limited.
While building her career, she also advanced her educational attainment. She is a member of professional bodies like the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Institute of Directors.
The new CFO of 9Mobile has also taken part in different courses within and outside Nigeria’s shores. Some of these courses are The Leadership Edge: Strategies For The New Leader (Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania), Making Corporate Boards More Effective (Havard Business School), and Finance Programmes for Senior Executives (Said Business School, Oxford University).
9Mobile as a telecommunication service provider
In 2017, Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Ltd. (EMTS), then trading as ‘Etisalat’, changed its trade name to ‘9Mobile’ after a crisis that saw it separate from its parent company, Etisalat Group. After the name change, EMTS, trading as ‘9mobile’, became a Nigerian private limited liability company.
In 2007, EMTS obtained a Unified Access Service License from the Nigerian Communications Commission. Through the license, EMTS provides Fixed Telephony (wired or wireless), Digital Mobile Services, International Gateway Services, and National/Regional Long Distance Service, as well as spectrum assignments in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands.
