
Nigerian Billionaire Femi Otedola Celebrates 60th Birthday on $750,000-a-Week-Yatch
In celebration of his 60th birthday celebration on the 4th of November, the Nigerian billionaire and oil tycoon Femi Otedola chartered one of the most iconic motor yachts, — Christina O Yacht. This was disclosed by Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly known as ‘DJ Cuppy’ when she posted on her Instagram page about the family celebrating their father’s birthday off the Amalfi coast in Italy aboard the 99.13-meter-long yacht.
In celebrating his diamond jubilee, he booked the yacht, which cost $750,000 (N2.2 billion) per week for three and a half weeks. This is estimated at $2.97 million (€3 million or N2.2 billion).
Apart from the rich history of the yacht, the oil magnate said he selected the vessel to commemorate his 60th birthday because of the late Greek shipping tycoon. He said the late Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis is one of the people he considers as his role. This made him model his life after the tycoon.
In 2001, Otedola started Seaforce Shipping Company Limited and built it into Nigeria’s largest indigenous shipping company. He grew the company to become the largest private shipowner in Nigeria from 2001 to 2007. Otedola’s admiration made him have a collection of Aristotle Onassis memorabilia, such as books, movies, and documentaries, everywhere he went.
A power family gathering
It can be said that the Nigerian billionaire and a one-time Forbes African billionaire, Femi Otedola is a proud father of four. This is evident in his relationship with his children and the all-exclusive family party celebrating their father. The exclusive family also saw the attendance of Mr Easi, Temi’s fiance.
Otedola’s children attained some commendable milestones in the media industry.
The three daughters of Otedola — Tolani, Ifeoluwa and Temi- made millions from the media industry. Tolani, the first child, debuted her music career in 2017 at Terra Kulture Arena. The success of the single saw her garner national recognition. This was followed by the release of songs and collaborations with artists such as Reekado Banks and Skales. Although she lives her life privately, the music star lives in her own house in London, with millions of dollars to her name.
Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly called ‘DJ Cuppy,’ is a disk jockey who has made a name for herself both as a singer and Dj. The success of her career led to the start of her London-based music management and content production business, Red Velvet Music Group. Coupled with this, she served as an ambassador to different organisations such as the Pepsi and Oil Baron Charity (Dubai).
To give back to the people who supported her, in 2018, she started her philanthropy activities called the ‘Cuppy Foundation’. In 2019, the foundation organised the Gold Gala and raised over N5bn for the Save the Children initiative in Nigeria.

In 2017, he released the mixtape Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1: Accra, to Lagos with artists such as Big Lean, Tekno, Phyno, DJ Cuppy, and others. Together with his singles “Leg Over” and “Tilapia’, his song ranked four on the Billboard World Albums chart. He has collaborated with international artists such as RAYE, the Lotto Boyzz, and Major Lazer.
