Sammie Okposo, a leading Nigerian gospel performer, passed away early on Friday, the 25th of November, according to several sources.
The artist reportedly slumped and passed away at his home this morning. Okposo is the CEO of Zamar Entertainment, a psalmist, and a music producer. In 2004, he issued his debut record, Addicted.
He has worked with numerous musicians in the gospel and soul music genres. He co-wrote the song “Follow You” with well-known gospel vocalist Marvellous Odiete.
Sammie Okposo is a notable performer with sold-out performances in Africa, Europe, and North America, most significantly, “The Experience” with Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on The Rock Church.
He also curates a concert series called SOPP (Sammie Okposo Praise Party). The Statement, his most recent album, was produced by Grammy-winning Kevin Bond in 2018.
When Okposo apologised to his wife Ozioma on his verified Instagram profile for cheating on her with another lady in the United States in an incident that occurred in 2021, he ignited the internet.
The musician decided to take a break from ministry following the scandal in order to go back in his spiritual steps before rejoining it after a few months.
The renowned singer narrowly avoided death in a horrifying vehicle accident in May of this year while driving on Lagos’ 3rd mainland bridge, but Okposo claimed he “was saved from the hands of the devil and his cohorts.”
