England Soccer Star Raheem Sterling Leaves World Cup After Intruders Break Into Family Home in London
Raheem Sterling, a forward for England, is reportedly departing the 2022 FIFA World Cup, now taking place in Qatar and returning to the UK after armed burglars broke into his home while his family was there.
Sterling, who had started two of the Three Lions’ games thus far at the World Cup, missed England’s 3-0 victory over Senegal in the round of 16 when he was ruled out of the squad due to a “family concern” shortly before kickoff.
Sterling was reportedly distraught and worried about his kids’ safety when he heard about the break-in and wanted to return home as quickly as possible.

Police statement released
A statement from Surrey Police read, “Police were contacted just before 9 pm on Saturday, December 3, after the occupants of the property came home and discovered a number of items, including jewellery and watches, had been stolen.

No threat of violence was involved as the items were discovered stolen retrospectively.”
Sterling’s return to the UK has been confirmed by manager Gareth Southgate, but if the conditions are right, it’s believed the player might also go back to Qatar.
Hope for Raheem Sterling return to the game
On Saturday, England will play France in the quarterfinals.
When asked if Sterling may participate in the competition again, Southgate responded, “I really don’t know, it’s a situation he needs time to deal with, I don’t want to put any pressure on him.
“Sometimes football isn’t the most important thing, and family should come first.”
Harry Kane, the captain of England, offered Sterling his best, saying: “Our thoughts are with him and his family.
It is a private matter with him, but it’s never easy to see one or your team-mates and friends have to deal with something like that.
We will take it day by day and take the best decision for him and his family.
From us as a team we send him our best and hope to see him as soon as possible.”
