Nigerian Basketballer Giannis Antetokounmpo is the World’s Youngest of Highest Paid Athletes 2022

Giannis Antetokounmpo is a professional basketball player who was born in Athens, Greece to Nigerian parents. He currently plays for the Milwaukee Bucks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). At just 28, Antetokounmpo has made the Forbes list of the highest-paid athletes in 2022.

In 2011, Giannis Antetokounmpo began his professional basketball career with the Filathlitikos senior men’s team in the Greek B Basket League. He was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2013 NBA Draft and has become one of the most successful and well-known players in the league.

Antetokounmpo has been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice and has led the Bucks to the NBA Eastern Conference Finals multiple times. In addition, he has been named to the All-NBA First Team and has been named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team several times. He has also been selected to play in the NBA All-Star Game every year since 2016. Antetokounmpo is known for his versatility and all-around skills on the court, and he has become one of the most popular players in the league.

He is one of four Black athletes, including LeBron James and Kevin Durant, who earned a combined $992 million in 2022, to make Forbes’ list of the top 10 highest-paid athletes. This makes him the only player in the top ten who is still in his 20s, while Neymar, the star of Brazilian football, will turn 30 in February.

The prize money, salary, and bonuses received between May 1, 2021, and May 1, 2022 are all included in the on-field earnings for this list. Based on discussions with industry insiders, off-field earnings numbers are projections of sponsorship agreements, appearance fees, memorabilia and licensing earnings for the 12 months ending May 1, 2022, as well as cash returns from any businesses run by the athlete.
