Dangote Signs Agreement with Sinoma On New Itori 6Mta Cement Plant 

Dangote Industries Limited(DIL) has made a deal to build a six million tons per annum cement plant with Chinese construction firm Sinoma International Engineering in Itori, Ogun State.

Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Cement Plc, and Devakumar Edwin, Group Executive Director, Strategy, Capital Projects & Portfolio Development, DIL signed the agreement with representatives of China Sinoma Engineering- Company’s Chairman, Liu Renyue and Group President, Yin Zhisong.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Dangote explained that the new integrated cement plant will strengthen the local production capacity of Dangote Cement when completed. He also noted that the local production capacity will be increased to 41.25 million tons per annum and the total African capacity to 57.6 million tons per annum.

The impact of the Itori 6Mta cement plant on Nigeria’s economy

Africa’s richest person revealed that the Itori Cement Plant will further expand Nigeria’s cement export capacity. Consequently, the development will encourage more diversification and foreign exchange inflows for the economy.

Still speaking, Dangote said the project is expected to enhance Nigeria’s domestic economy as it will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs. He stressed that economic development in the Itori axis will also see an uplift, as ancillary businesses will be drawn to the axis.

Dangote and Sinoma’s relationship

Describing Sinoma as a strategic partner, the Nigeria business Mogul said “We are comfortable working with your company. You have handled some of our key projects and I am positive that this project will be completed as scheduled.”

In response, the Group President of China Sinoma Engineering, Yin Zhisong, expressed delight at the opportunity of building another cement plant for the Dangote Group.

The Itori cement plant which is Dangote Cement’s fourth cement plant is designed to have two Lines x 6,000 TPD Clinker Production with an installed daily total capacity of 12,000 TPD of Clinker production. The plant should be completed during a 2-3 years period.
