5 Female Social Media Influencers In Nigeria Right Now

Social media influencers are increasingly becoming powerful tools for marketing and brand awareness in Nigeria. This is because the country has a high number of social media users, with over 27 million active users on Facebook and over 7.8 million on Instagram. 

Among these users are female influencers who have built a name for themselves through content creation and comedy skits. They have also amassed a large following and are paving the way for other young women to follow in their footsteps and make a difference in their respective industries. In this article, we will highlight five female influencers whose social media accounts have given them better placement in Nigeria today. Let’s dive in:

Maraji

Gloria Oloruntobi, also known as Maraji, is a Nigerian comedian, who began her career by making lip-sync videos and miming songs. Maraji roleplays in her comedy skits and switches between accents and vocal pitches to suit each character she plays. She has 518,000 subscribers and 145 videos on YouTube, and 1.4 million followers on Instagram.

Maraji graduated from Covenant University, with a Bachelor’s degree in international relations. 

She was featured in the music videos for Falz’s “Something Light” and Yemi Alade’s “Single and Searching. Also, Maraji was nominated for Prize for Comedy at the 2017 and 2018 The Future Awards Africa. She was also nominated for Comedy Act of the Year at the 2018 City People Music Awards.

Sisi Yemmie

Yemisi Odusanya popularly known as Sisi Yemmie is a Nigerian food and lifestyle blogger. She began her career by creating and sharing food recipe videos prepared in her kitchen, on her YouTube channel, SisiYemmieTV. The 38-year-old also shares content on parenting, relationships and lifestyle on her channel. 

As of February 2023, she had 882,000 subscribers and 1.1k videos on her YouTube channel. During Prince Charles’s visit to British Council in Lagos, he described her channel as “Brilliant.” She was listed as a top female Nigerian YouTuber in December 2020. In 2018, she was profiled by CNN Africa alongside Linda Ikeji and Chiamaka Obuekwe as “women who have struck social media gold”. 

Sisi Yemmie who graduated from Igbinedion University won the Eloy awards for Female YouTubers in 2017, the City people’s entertainment awards for blogger of the year in 2010, and won the Eloy awards for blogger of the year in 2014.

Taaooma

Maryam Apaokagi, professionally known as Taaooma is a Nigerian comedian, content creator, and cinematographer, whose skits are based on the way African parents discipline their children with a slap. She came to fame when she shared a skit on how African parents take their kids to school.

She currently serves as the CEO, and founder of Chop Tao, a food company, and directs for The Greenade Company, a cinematography firm. Taaooma started online comedy after convincing her fiancé to teach her the basics of video editing. In 2019, she won The Gage Awards, Best Online Comedian Of The Year category. She also won Nigeria’s 25 under 25 awards in the Social Entrepreneur Category. She also won the JCI TOYP Award, Cultural Achievement Category in 2021.

Dimma 

Dimma Umeh also known as Dimma is a Nigerian beauty blogger, YouTuber, and makeup artist. With close to 200,000 followers on Instagram and 471,000 subscribers on YouTube, she is one of the beauty influencers in Nigeria. Her social media presence is characterized by beauty tutorials, makeup reviews, and product recommendations. She has worked with several international beauty brands and is also the founder of the skincare brand, “DIMMA Beauty.” Dimma Umeh’s influence in the beauty industry has earned her recognition and awards.

Twinz love

Oladimeji Moyin and Doyin are entrepreneurs, makeup artists, and content creators. They are popularly known for tricking their mother in their skits. They began their career when they decided to put their mother’s funny reaction to talks on camera. They recently graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. They have 1.2 million followers on Instagram and 97.2k subscribers on YouTube.
