Obi Celebrates Otti’s Win, Says Abia Electorates Will Respected

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi says the will of voters in the Abia State was respected with the declaration of Alex Otti as governor-elect.

Speaking with Otti shortly after his victory on Wednesday evening, Obi said, “I am gratified that the will and wish freely expressed by the Abia electorate have been respected.”

He further prayed that God will guide and protect the incoming Governor of God’s Own State.

How Otti won his rivals at the polls

Otti, the flagbearer of the Labour party defeated main rivals like Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Peoples Party (YPP). He scored 175,467 and won 10 of the 17 local government areas in the state. Ahiwe polled 88,529 and won 6 local government areas in the state, while Nwafor got 28,972 and got one local government area.

Otti who has previously tried to secure victory at the guber polls won on his third attempt. Recall that he was the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2015 and 2019 elections.

Abia’s gov-elect reacts to victory

Reacting to his victory via his verified Twitter handle, Otti pledged to serve Abians judiciously for the next four years. He wrote, “With deep humility and a profound sense of responsibility, I wholeheartedly accept your mandate to be your chief servant for the next 4 years.”

Also, he revealed plans to improve the economy of Abia State. Speaking during an interview with Arise News Otti stated that though the state is in debt, he said that the government will have to take more loans, saying, “There is no problem with taking loans, the problem is what you do with the loans.
