Tinubu Will Administer Effective Governance – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that they will enjoy effective governance under the administration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu. Buhari explained that Tinubu had the experience and political pedigree to achieve this by 29 May when he would assume the leadership of the country.

This was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina today.

Buhari expressed hopes that Tinubu’s “political pedigree from the ’90s, active role in party politics, being elected Senator and later Governor of Lagos State, and diligent involvement in structure of leadership at the Executive and Legislative levels for many years, will serve as an asset for good and effective governance.”

The President also used the opportunity to celebrate Tinubu, who will be celebrating his 71st birth anniversary tomorrow. He prayed for his well-being and that of his family.

Also, the statement noted that  “President Buhari believes Asiwaju’s warmth, friendliness and generosity have set the pace for a network of friends, home and abroad.” This friendliness according to Buhari will “shape his presidency with the requisite expertise to guide the economy, and consolidate on the investments of past leaders, particularly in people-first development and infrastructure”.

Tinubu had earlier cancelled all forms of celebration including the annual colloquium to mark his birthday. He requested that special prayers and a thanksgiving service be held in several parts of the country. In a statement, his media aide, Tunde Rahman hinted that special prayers will be held at the central mosques in each of the five divisions in Lagos state.

According to the statement, President Muhammadu Buhari and First Lady Aisha Buhari, President-elect Tinubu, and his wife, senator Oluremi Tinubu, Vice-President-elect, senator Kashim Shettima, and Hajia Nana Shettima, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, other state governors, as well as members of national and state houses of assembly, are scheduled to receive special prayers.
