Reps Ask INEC To Delete Dead Voters From Register
The House of Representatives has instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to develop a system to delete dead voters from the voter register. This development comes as the resolution of the lawmakers after a motion of urgent national importance by a member, Leke Abejide.
Abejide in his motion, drew the attention of the House to what he described as irregularities observed during the 2023 general elections. According to him, his late father’s name was seen in the INEC register. The lawmakers also urged the electoral commission to deregister any voter who doesn’t vote in two election cycles.
Their resolution comes a few days ahead of the start date of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal hearing. The hearing is birthed from alleged irregularities that marred the 2023 presidential election.

This was part of his submission at a symposium in honour of a one-time Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Chike Idigbe on Thursday.
Stressing that the judiciary arm of government plays a pivotal role in uniting the country, Gowon asked Nigerians to allow the courts to do their work without interference.
He made this statement at an event that had the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Alfa Belgore; Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba; and some Senior Advocates of Nigeria in attendance.
