Nigerian entrepreneur, Investor and Philanthropist, Tony Elumelu is known not only for his remarkable business acumen but also for his unique fashion sense. His signature red tie and socks have become iconic, and a symbol of his distinctive style and personality.
Beyond fashion, Tony Elumelu’s social life is just as noteworthy, as he is often spotted hanging out with some of Africa’s wealthiest individuals, including Aliko Dangote and other prominent billionaires. While relaxing may mean different things to different people, for Elumelu it could include reading books, partying with friends, exercising, amongst others.
Let’s explore five of these places where the business mogul visits to rejuvenate his mind and body.
EKO Hotels and Suites
Described as the most preferred hotel in West Africa, Eko Hotels and Suites is one of the locations that Elumelu visits. Located in the heart of Victoria Island, Eko Hotels & Suites provide clients with a perfect blend of business and leisure amenities with dining and recreational options. Elumelu has been at this location on various occasions.
He was there to present an award to Nigeria50 Award winner Arjan Mirchandani, Executive Director, Euro Global Food and Distilleries. Elumelu Mansion’s Library
When Tony Elumelu relaxes, he picks a book to read in his private library at home. Although details of his Ikoyi home are sketchy, a video released in a #TEF challenge showed briefly what Elumelu’s library looks like. The Library had several large shelves with books and was painted white in colour. Hanging on the wall, was a huge frame of Elumelu and his wife.
The library was well-spaced with sofas that had gold and violet throw pillows. There was also an old gramophone on one of the stools. Also, several collections of books were neatly arranged on the library’s centre table. In the video, Elumelu sat on one of the three-seater sofas as he attended to some lifestyle questions.
Heirs Holdings Office Gym
A few weeks ago, The Tony Elumelu Foundation released 60 facts about Elumelu. Amongst these are his ability to do a 2-minute straight plank, and then 30 seconds on each side, and his love for yoga. This to a large extent reveals how much he prioritises fitness, and how much time he spends in his private gym.
He once noted, “Exercise is not a matter of choice, it’s a necessity. It is a healthy lifestyle. My work keeps me constantly on the go but no matter where I am in the world, I try to stay on my exercise game. Don’t let a busy lifestyle be your excuse for not exercising. Get up and go !”

Elumelu’s 60th birthday party was held at the UBA House. The birthday celebration began with a symposium tagged “60 for 60.” The event had 60 beneficiaries of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) entrepreneurship programme, friends and colleagues in attendance.
Reports revealed that the celebration continued well into the evening, with a star-filled event that had the likes of Wizkid, Ckay and Flavour in attendance. As a socialite, Elumelu danced to the tunes of these artists.
