Peter Obi is Afraid of the Obidients – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, a public affairs commentator, has called out Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, with claims of his refusal to call his followers, known as Obidients, to order.

Pastor  Adeboye had on Sunday expressed optimism that Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, would fix Nigeria with the help of God.

Adeboye, who was represented by his Special Assistant, Pastor Dele Balogun, spoke at the monthly Thanksgiving service at the RCCG Headquarters in Ebute-Metta.

Some netizens known as the supporters of Obi, popularly called ‘Obidients’ have taken to social media to frown against the statement of the Man of God, calling him names on various social media platforms.

However, Omokri strongly stood against this and said Obi’s supporters have insulted all Nigerian icons, including the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

He said “In Christianity, the most respected Nigerian is Pastor Adeboye. You may not like that it is a fact, but it is true. So respected is he that he was called ‘Daddy Adeboye’ by a British Prime Minister (David Cameron).

Adeboye had earlier been dragged by Obi followers in the build-up to the election over his refusal to publicly declare open support for the former Anambra Governor.

There were several claims that the Christian leader might be surreptitiously supporting Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket because the incoming First Lady is a pastor in his church.

In a post on his social media Omokri said Obi’s supporters have also insulted the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar and Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka.

“In Islam, the most revered living Nigeria is Sarkin Musulumi, His Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto. So revered is he that Nigerian Presidents even bow to him”, he said.

“In academics, the most respected Nigerian national is Professor Wole Soyinka. The first Black African to have won a Nobel Prize in an academic category. So honoured is he that a former US President (Jimmy Carter) personally took his Green Card to him without him even applying for one”, Omokri added.

Omokri stated that each of these three national icons has been insulted publicly and carelessly by Obidients and also added that Obi was afraid to publicly call his supporters to order, saying he preferred meeting the insulted leaders privately to say one thing indoors and another thing outside.
