Tinubu on Aso Villa Familiarisation Tour
President-elect, Bola Tinubu has been taken on a familiarisation tour of the Presidential Villa, Abuja by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking during the tour, Buhari said, “This is the Gallery where you will be meeting members of the press.” They both arrived at the Press Gallery at around 1:18 pm shortly after observing the Jummah Prayers at the Aso Villa Mosque.
This development comes hours after the President conferred upon Tinubu the National Honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic and Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger on Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, at the State House Banquet Hall.
Also, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had earlier taken Shettima on a tour of the VP Wing of the State House.
Tinubu will hit the ground running-Shettima
Addressing newsmen after the tour to some administrative offices within the villa, Shettima said, “I believe Tinubu will hit the ground running from day one. He does not have the luxury of time. And I will be the vice president. I don’t want to be presumptuous, I don’t want to make a loud proclamation, but my interaction with him has shown that we will hit the ground running from day one.”
He also appreciated the Osinbajo saying “On the instance of the Vice President, who is a friend, a contemporary, I came here just to exchange ideas on how to move the nation forward. He took me around the offices out of courtesy, and I want to commend him, I want to thank him for extending that courtesy to me. Yes, cross-fertilization of ideas.”
Shettima further said the national honour conferred on him by the outgoing President, was a historical experience. He said, “I believe it is a humbling experience, a call to national duty and by God’s grace we need the support of all of you, especially the media to succeed. So, I wish to employ all of you to join us in building a new Nigeria.”
Both Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima are due to be sworn in on the 29th of 2023 at Eagle Square, Abuja.
