How Transparency Amongst Security Agencies Can Help Tinubu’s Administration

Security and intelligence agencies in the country have been tasked with the importance of information and intelligence sharing by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This is to utterly destroy the counter-productivity of resources in the fight against terrorism.

Tinubu’s statement concerning security comes a few days after he met with the Service Chiefs at the State House in Abuja. The President reemphasised that security must be highly prioritised in order to achieve economic revival, prosperity and development.

Led by the National security adviser, Babagana Munguno, the president conducted a tour around the National Counter-terrorism Centre. During the tour, Tinubu noted that it is important for security agencies to back their efforts with knowledge.

Stressing that there should be no hoarding of information or intelligence, Tinubu assured that Nigeria is on the path to success. The President who pledged to prioritise security in his administration earlier promised to “reform both our security DOCTRINE and its ARCHITECTURE.”

Tinubu demands frequent consultations from security agencies

Addressing newsmen, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, who conveyed the President’s message, hinted that the President demands frequent consultations in tandem with the demands of the nation and will embark on a lot of reforms.

Also, Tinubu mandated the security agencies to develop a blueprint to deal with the issue of crude oil theft, indicating that the changes meet the requirements of the changing times.

Recall that Tinubu had earlier met with heads of the nation’s security and intelligence agencies including the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao; and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
