According to Statista, the continent has witnessed the emergence of a considerable number of millionaires, reflecting the region’s economic growth and entrepreneurial spirit. 

Billionaires like Aliko Dangote, Johann Rupert, amongst others have dominated their respective countries making their mark as the wealthiest individuals in Africa. However, this article aims to explore African countries with the highest concentration of millionaires, shedding light on the factors contributing to their wealth accumulation. 

South Africa –  39,300

South Africa stands as a prominent African country with the largest number of millionaires on the continent. Its economic landscape, diverse sectors, and entrepreneurial spirit have contributed to the wealth accumulation within the nation. 

In South Africa, billionaires such as Johann Rupert and Nicky Oppenheimer have emerged as prominent figures in the realm of wealth and entrepreneurship. Also, the millionaire growth in the country is captivating with an estimation of 39,300 individuals corresponding to roughly one-third of the total number of millionaires on the continent. South Africa’s strong financial sector, thriving real estate market, and robust mining industry have played significant roles in creating opportunities for wealth generation.

Egypt – 16,900

Egypt has experienced a significant rise in the number of millionaires, reaching an impressive count of 16,900 individuals. This surge in wealth can be attributed to several key factors within the country’s economic landscape. Egypt’s diverse sectors, including finance, real estate, tourism, and telecommunications, have played a vital role in fostering wealth creation.

Nigeria – 10,000

Kenya – 8500

Morocco – 5000

Mauritius – 4,800
