3 Things That Qualified Wike For Ministerial Role
The Senate cleared the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, for a ministerial role today. This comes after Wike reeled out his Curriculum Vitae and achievements before the Senate.
Wike said, “I accepted the offer to serve as a ministerial nomination because of my passion to serve Nigeria.”
As much as Wike’s passion for Nigeria made him accept the ministerial role, it is believed that certain things qualified him for this role.
One such is the role he played in Tinubu’s victory during the presidential election. Wike reportedly worked to ensure that the All-Progressive Congress, APC win in Rivers state.
Lawmakers describe Wike as the best in the state
During the screening, lawmakers representing River State represented by Senator Barinada Mpigi ( PDP, Rivers Southeast) said, “His Excellency former Governor Nyesom Wike is our best in Rivers State. He is our leader and role model.
They added that “Distinguished senators, we employ that you should let him just take a bow and go. His resume is insufficient to enumerate the works that he has done.” This is the second thing that qualified him for the ministerial role.
The Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, thereafter, told him to take a bow and leave.
Wike’s work in Rivers speak
Earlier, the Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau said, “The first time, I got to River State; I was shocked because of the impact of the work that you did in the state.
“In fact, I thought I was abroad and not in Nigeria. Will you be able to replicate the same work if you were confirmed as a Minister?”
His work during his time as governor also qualified him for the role. The former Rivers governor was part of the first set of ministerial nominees Tinubu forwarded to the Senate.
