Zuckerberg Cancels Planned Cage Fight with Elon Musk

The proposed cage fight between Billionaire Metaverse owner Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter X Elon Musk has been cancelled.

Disclosing this via Thread post, Zuckerberg wrote, “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White (UFC boss) offered to make this a legit competition for charity.”

The billionaire also noted that “Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead.”

Zuckerberg added, “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”

What you need to know

Musk had in June tweeted that he is up for a cage match with Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg, a jiu-jitsu lover, told Musk to send him the location.

After their posts, both tech giants went further to translate their words into action. They shared snapshots of training sessions with UFC fighters.

Reports say the President of UFC, Dana White offered his assistance in coordinating the match. Despite these,  concrete plans for the cage fight have remained elusive.

Musk who claimed that his conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni led to an exciting venue idea for the bout also hinted at collaborative efforts between his and Zuckerberg’s charitable foundations.

Tired of the back and forth, Zuckerberg stated that there will be no need to hype an event that might never see the light of day.
