Hundreds Rally in Abeokuta, Seeking Justice for Mohbad

Hundreds of youths took to the streets of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, to demand justice for the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

The protest marks the third of its kind, following similar demonstrations in Lagos and Benin City.

Dressed in black T-shirts, the youths gathered at the skating ground in the bustling Panseke market.

They held placards bearing messages like “#JusticeforMohbad” as they marched through various parts of the state capital, including Onikolobo, Oke-Ilwo, Omida, and Isale Igbehin.

Justice for Mohbad

The protesters are calling on the government to arrest Naira Marley and Sam Larry, even as official investigations into Mohbad’s untimely death are underway.

The singer passed away last week at the age of 27 under mysterious circumstances, sparking nationwide calls for a thorough inquiry.

The event has caught the attention of social media users, many of whom believe that Mohbad was bullied to death.

Tweets praising the protest have been flooding in, with comments like “This is wonderful; justice must prevail,” from cybersecurity expert Adekunle King, and “Justice for Mohbad protest in Ogun,” from Imran Mohammed, a Buharist and APC supporter.

To ensure the protest remained peaceful, police officers walked alongside the demonstrators. Their presence was a reassuring sight for those demanding justice.

What the Lagos State Government is doing about Mohbad’s death

The Lagos State Government has escalated the matter by involving the State Security Services in the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Femi Hamzat, have paid a condolence visit to Mohbad’s grieving family.

The protest in Abeokuta has added another layer to the growing demand for justice for Mohbad. As investigations continue, the public’s call for accountability shows no signs of waning. The late singer’s fans and supporters are keenly watching, hopeful that justice will be served.
