Senate Gives Nod: Jigawa’s Former Attorney-General, Aliyu, Now ICPC Chairman

The Senate has confirmed Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, the former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Jigawa State, as the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). 

The announcement came during a plenary session in the Red Chamber, led by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin.

Additionally, the Senate gave its approval for the appointments of Saka Bolaji Sulaiman and Prof. Gaji F. Dantata as members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission. 

The motion for the screening of these nominees was initiated by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.

In his remarks, Aliyu committed to upholding fairness, transparency, and accountability in his role. 

Speaking further, he emphasized leading with integrity and ensuring that the ICPC operates strictly within the bounds of the law. Aliyu also pledged to avoid any media trials for individuals under investigation.
