To emphasize the significance of the creative sector, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to bolstering the industry. This statement was most pronounced when he had the honor of closing the Emmy Kasbit show during the Lagos Fashion Week 2023.

Highlighting Lagos’s remarkable position as a beacon of art and culture, Sanwo-Olu took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to share his sentiments. On the platform, he expressed his pride in representing a city as a nexus for artistic and cultural expressions. 

He emphasized Lagos’s status as a thriving hub of creativity, suggesting that its unique cultural footprint has the potential to bring transformative economic growth to the city.

Sanwo Olu declares his intention to boost the industry

Elaborating on the overarching influence of the creative industry, Sanwo-Olu observed that its reach extends beyond mere fashion. Instead, it’s a potent economic driver that can catalyze significant growth for the state. 

With this in mind, he indicated the state’s intentions to inject more resources into the cultivation and promotion of creative talents. By doing so, he believes the sector holds promise in augmenting the state’s Gross Domestic Product and generating considerable employment opportunities.
