Putin Charges West with Profiteering from Strife, Accuses US of Impeding Israel-Palestine Peace
In a recent address to key members of his Security Council, government officials, and law enforcement leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid the blame on the West, especially the United States, for inflaming tensions in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
This comes at a time when Israel’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip have intensified following an attack by Hamas militants which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,400 individuals, mainly civilians, in Israel on October 7.
Putin blames the U.S for the Israel-Palestine conflict
Throughout his address, the recurrent theme was the Putin Israel-Palestine narrative, in which Putin consistently emphasized the alleged role of the U.S. in perpetuating strife in the region. He asserted that the U.S., alongside its allies, is responsible for the turmoil and suffering faced by the Palestinians in Gaza.
He also extended this narrative to highlight the supposed U.S. role in conflicts in countries like Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.
Arguing that the U.S. seems to favor constant chaos in the Middle East, Putin voiced concern over the alleged U.S. efforts to undermine nations that call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He stated that while such nations aim to end the bloodshed and actively contribute to resolving the crisis, the U.S. appears more interested in exploiting the situation for its advantage.
Russia to host a Hamas delegation in Moscow
Putin’s comments on the Israel-Palestine situation were further complicated by Russia’s recent decision to host a Hamas delegation in Moscow, which hasn’t sat well with Israel.
Linking back to the Israel-Palestine perspective, Putin painted Russia’s intervention in Ukraine as a broader resistance against U.S. influence and manipulation, which he sees as pervasive not only in Ukraine but also in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
This implies that the discord in Ukraine isn’t just a regional matter but is intertwined with larger geopolitical plays involving U.S. strategies.
