This top UBA Executive just Got Appointed into US EXIM Bank’s Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee 

The Chief Executive Officer of United Bank for Africa Plc (US operation), Sola Yomi-Ajayi, has been appointed into the US Export-Import Bank’s Advisory Committee on Sub-Saharan Africa.

In a statement seen by Business Elites Africa, the tier-1 bank’s Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, was quoted to have said that Ajayi’s appointment is indicative of UBA’s decades-long role in supporting and encourage both big and small businesses across many countries in Africa and beyond.

“The appointment of Sola as a member of the US EXIM Advisory Committee for Sub-Saharan Africa is welcome news.  UBA’s global network of offices in New York, London and Paris, permits us to be the preferred financial intermediary between Africa and the rest of the world.  Our mission at UBA is fully aligned with the objectives of the US EXIM,” Elumelu said.

Also commenting on the appointment, the President and Chairman of the US EXIM Bank, Kimberly Reed, congragulated the Sola Yomi-Ajayi. According to Reed, “Africa is poised to play a pivotal role in the global economy.  Supporting US exports to sub-Saharan Africa is one of our top priorities at EXIM, and my deepest congratulations goes to the new members of the EXIM Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee”.

The US EXIM Bank is an independent US federal agency tasked with the responsibility of promoting and supporting American jobs by providing competitive and necessary export credit to support sales of U.S. goods and services to international buyers.

Established by the US Congress, the US EXIM Bank’s Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee provides guidance and advice regarding US EXIM policies and programmes designed to support the expansion of financing for US manufactured goods and services in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Prior to her appointment as the CEO of UBA USA in August 2018, Ajayi previously held key positions within the tier-1 banking group, including Divisional Head of Global Financial Institutions and Debt Funding between 2014 and 2018. She has an MBA in International Finance from Robert Gordon University.
