UCT GSB Solution Space Selects 10 Startups for Venture Exploitation Programme

  • The University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business’ (UCT GSB) Solution Space has selected 10 startups to participate in its 12-week Venture Exploitation Program that launched on Monday, the 1st of June.
  • The initiative, introduced last year by the UCT GSB Solution Space, is sponsored by the MTN Group.
  • Three of the 10 companies were identified as the last month as the top three ideas in a hackathon organised by SA-based Ayoba messaging app to together with Solution Space and Geekulcha. They are Guardian Health, Wenzan and Little Fish.

The University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business’ (UCT GSB) Solution Space has selected 10 startups to join its 12-week Venture Exploitation Program that launched on Monday, the 1st of June.

The initiative, introduced last year by the UCT GSB Solution Space, is sponsored by the MTN Group.

It consists of a three-part plan for high-impact projects, business growth and capacity building. Additionally, the Solution Space is also aimed at promoting tech projects and fostering an ecosystem that leverages the various platforms of MTN.

Three of the 10 companies that MTN revealed in Monday’s statement were identified last month as the top three ideas in a hackathon organised by SA-based Ayoba messaging app together with Solution Space and Geekulcha. They were Guardian Health, Wenzan and Little Fish.

The specifics of the 10 companies chosen for the Venture Exploitation Program are:

Activity Hub, an online tours and activities marketplace that offers real-time availability, safe payment and instant experience confirmation.

CiTTA, a platform for sustainable growth, and a forum for expert resourcing and networking.

Guardian Health, a reservation system which provides better resource planning for local clinics and community health workers.

Little Fish, an e-commerce portal that allows small businesses with limited resources to explore and enjoy the benefits of the increasing digital economy.

FynRoot Productions, offers a potted arrangement of fynbos plants and empowers people with the knowledge to grow and survive fynbos plants.

IAfrica, an African language platform for conten and digital skills growth network.

Ikhaya Space, a credit provider for individuals and businesses of high networth.

Futures Academy, an independent online high school offering a versatile learning environment for grades 10 through 12.

Go Themba, an environmentally friendly mobile car wash app.

Wenzan, a decentralized peer-to – peer video chat app that lets users video-call anyone with a browser on any phone.
