It is with immense pride and pleasure that we present to you the 2020 “Ten Top Fintech Companies in Africa” issue of Business Elites Africa.

Global Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) continue to take a major hit amidst the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic. The sentiment appears to be plateauing in recent weeks. The International Monetary Fund predicts that Africa’s economy will contract by 1.5 percentage points in 2020 – a loss of around $200bn (£163.5bn) in income for the region. Smart organisations are retooling to better adapt to the new norm.

The continent’s projected GDP growth of 3.2% for 2020 is now expected to fall to -0.8%. This is due to the decline in monetary flow resulting from enforced partial or total lockdown of economies.
So far, Africa accounts for just a fraction of total cases of the disease which has infected more than one million people worldwide, according to a Reuters tally. However, African economies are already facing an impending global economic downturn, plummeting oil and commodity prices, and an imploding tourism sector. ‘Solution thinking’ is the key.

In this issue, we’ve highlighted Africa’s Top 10 Fintech Companies, five (5) of Africa’s most powerful women executives, as well as an inside focus on some of the African startups that are pivoting their services to meet the needs of customers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the featured guests are, Uzoma Dozie – founder Sparkle Nigeria, Benjamin Fernandes – founder Nala, Greg Reeve – CEO PalmPay, Hilda Kabushenga Kragha – CEO Jobberman, and Johnny Enagwolor – co-founder Plentywaka.

These electrifying echoes of success stories all share one common denominator – change and efficiency thinking. You’ll also find to your reading pleasure, insightful and actionable articles. To our champions, we salute you!
