10 Players Report for Super Eagles Camp
At least ten players have reported to the Super Eagles camp as preparations begin for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The early arrivals mark the official start of Nigeria’s build-up for the continental tournament.
The team’s camp opened on Sunday at the Renaissance Hotels in Cairo, Egypt. All members of the coaching crew and backroom staff were already on ground before the players began to arrive, showing how seriously the team is taking the preparations.
Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was the first player to report, arriving shortly after 2 a.m. local time. His early arrival signalled the beginning of full squad mobilisation. Uzoho is one of the three goalkeepers named in head coach Eric Chelle’s 28-man squad, and his inclusion marks his return to the national team after being out of action for more than a year.
He was followed by Stanley Nwabali, who became the second player in camp. Midfielders Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro later arrived, bringing the total number of players present to four.
As the day progressed, six more players joined the camp. They include Amas Obasogie, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Igho Ogbu, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Tochukwu Nnadi. Their arrival increased the number of players in camp to ten.
More players are expected to arrive in the coming hours as Nigeria steps up preparations for the tournament. The team is scheduled to hold its first training session later this evening as training activities officially begin.
As part of their build-up to the competition, the Super Eagles will face Egypt in an international friendly on Tuesday. The match will take place at the Cairo International Stadium and is expected to give the coaching crew an early chance to assess the players.
Nigeria heads into the 2025 AFCON with confidence after finishing as runners-up at the last edition. The Super Eagles lost 2–1 to host nation Ivory Coast in the final but showed strong performances throughout the tournament.
The three-time African champions will be aiming to go one step further this time by winning a fourth AFCON title, adding to their previous triumphs in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
