2027: Peter Obi Camp Unveils “Village Boys Movement” to Rival “City Boys”
Peter Obi supporters have unveiled a new grassroots mobilisation platform ahead of the 2027 presidential race, branding it the Village Boys Movement.
The group is being positioned as a counterweight to the City Boys Movement, a pro-Tinubu re-election structure associated with President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
Speaking to supporters in Abuja on Thursday, the convener, Maazị Tochukwu Ezeoke, introduced himself as the group’s “Village Headmaster” and described the movement as a symbol of everyday Nigerians who believe the country should be built on work, discipline, and responsible use of resources.
Ezeoke said the movement stands for a Nigeria that “works before it earns and earns before it spends,” but stressed that it is not an attack on urban communities. Instead, he framed it as a moral contrast focused on leadership values.
In his words, the argument is not about whether someone is from a village or a city, but about “the source of wealth, the ethics of leadership, and the structure of accountability.”
