7 Nigerian Banks Now Let You Pay in Dollars With Your Naira ATM Card

If you’ve been struggling to pay for things like Netflix, Amazon, or online courses because your Naira card keeps getting rejected, the good news is here.

Seven major Nigerian banks have quietly flipped the switch back on. That means you can now use your Naira ATM card to make dollar payments again with no domiciliary account, no virtual dollar card, and no third-party apps.

These Nigerian Banks Just Made It Possible

 1. UBA (United Bank for Africa)

UBA is one of the first to publicly confirm this update. Their Gold, Platinum, and World Naira debit cards are now enabled for international payments. You can now pay in dollars directly with your UBA Naira card for things like online shopping and subscriptions.

 7. Union Bank

While the bank hasn’t issued an official press release, users say their Union Bank Mastercard debit cards now process dollar payments for services like Udemy, Canva, Google Ads, and more.

Why Now?

For over two years, Nigerians couldn’t use their Naira cards for international payments  mostly due to the forex crisis and CBN restrictions.

But things are changing. With more dollars flowing into Nigeria and the Naira slowly stabilizing, banks are getting some breathing room to bring this feature back.

According to reports, Nigeria saw over $6 billion in FX inflow in May 2025 alone enough to ease some of the pressure on the financial system.

After months of struggling with virtual dollar cards, high black market rates, and transaction declined, this update from banks is a huge relief. You can now make international payments with just your regular Naira ATM card  no backflips required.

If you’ve been holding off on renewing your Spotify, paying for a course, or subscribing to an app, now might be the perfect time to give your Naira card another try.
