Ajibade: Super Falcons yet to Receive FG’s $100,000 Reward
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade says the team is still waiting for the $100,000 cash award and other pledges announced by the Federal Government after Nigeria’s 2024 WAFCON triumph in Morocco.
Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade confirmed the delay when asked if the funds had been delivered. “We have not received our money… all the promises, we have not received anything,” she said, adding that match bonuses are still being processed.
With a touch of humour, she noted that fans keep asking her about the payout and “have already shared the money in percentages,” but stressed that any payment, once made, will be publicly announced.
Ajibade captained Nigeria to a record-extending WAFCON title, after which President Bola Tinubu conferred Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) honours on the players and technical crew, and announced $100,000 and a three-bedroom flat for each squad member.
