What You Should Know About New Lagos Speaker Mojisola Miranda
Mojisola Miranda has taken center stage as the new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Her appointment follows the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa over allegations of misconduct.
Representing Apapa Constituency I, Meranda is now the first woman to hold this prestigious position, marking a historic moment in Lagos politics.
Born and raised in Lagos, she began her education at Randle Primary School, continued at Anglican Girls Grammar School, and later graduated from Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School in 1998.
Her pursuit of knowledge didn’t stop there. With a passion for public administration, she earned a degree from Lagos State University (LASU) in 2013, followed by a master’s degree from the University of Lagos in 2020. She’s currently pursuing an MBA in the UK, showcasing her dedication to growth and leadership.
Her journey into politics began with grassroots involvement in the Alliance for Democracy (AD), which eventually evolved into today’s APC. By 2015, she had secured her place as a representative in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Over the years, Meranda has held numerous roles, including Chief Whip and Deputy Speaker.
Beyond politics, she’s proven herself in business and community service. She once managed Cirrus Nigeria Limited and later established her own company, Worthline International Services Limited.
Her leadership extends to various community-focused roles, where she’s worked tirelessly to address health and poverty-related issues. Mojisola Meranda’s rise is not just about breaking barriers but also about years of preparation, service, and commitment to excellence. As the new Speaker, she is poised to bring fresh energy and perspective to the Assembly.
