All Teams Qualified for Champions League Round of 16 Knockout Phase

The 2025/26 UEFA Champions League phase is reaching its final stretch, and the qualification picture is now clearer. Barcelona, Chelsea, Juventus and Newcastle are the latest clubs to confirm a place in the Champions League knockout phase (at minimum the knockout play-offs), while Bayern München have now sealed direct passage into the round of 16 alongside Arsenal.

Under the new format, the top eight teams in the league phase qualify straight to the round of 16, while teams finishing 9th to 24th go into a two-legged knockout phase play-off, with the winners joining them in the last 16. Teams ranked 25th to 36th are eliminated.

Confirmed in the round of 16

These clubs have already clinched a top-eight finish, meaning they will skip the play-offs and go directly into the last 16:

  • Arsenal
  • Bayern München

Confirmed at least in the knockout phase play-offs

These clubs are guaranteed to finish inside the top 24, meaning they will be involved in the knockout phase either directly in the round of 16 or via the play-offs:

  • Atalanta
  • Atlético Madrid
  • Barcelona
  • Chelsea
  • Inter
  • Juventus
  • Liverpool
  • Manchester City
  • Newcastle
  • Paris Saint-Germain
  • Real Madrid
  • Sporting CP
  • Tottenham Hotspur

Newcastle’s qualification was sealed after a decisive win that moved them into the top eight, guaranteeing a last-16 spot on the provisional table.

Eliminated teams

With one matchday left, these clubs can no longer reach the top 24 and are out of the competition:

  • Frankfurt
  • Kairat Almaty
  • Slavia Praha
  • Villarreal

What happens next

UEFA’s current standings are provisional until the league phase ends and results are formally validated, so the final “top eight” picture can still shift on the last matchday.

Key dates already confirmed for the knockout phase are:

  • Knockout phase play-offs: 17/18 and 24/25 February 2026
  • Round of 16: 10/11 and 17/18 March 2026
  • Final: 30 May 2026 (Budapest)
