Anthony Joshua Escapes Death in Lagos–Ibadan Expressway Accident
Former heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road crash on Monday along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, around the Makun area of Ogun State.
Eyewitnesses said the accident happened around 11:00 a.m., close to Danco Filling Station, Makun, on the Sagamu Interchange side of the expressway.
Joshua was reportedly travelling in a Lexus SUV with the registration number KRD 850 HN when it crashed into a stationary truck. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.
The Lexus was said to be moving in a small convoy. A second vehicle, a Pajero SUV, was reportedly behind it and was carrying his security team.
An eyewitness said there were four people inside the Lexus when the crash happened, with Joshua seated behind the driver. The eyewitness claimed Joshua suffered minor injuries, while two other occupants reportedly died at the scene.
The witness said people around quickly tried to help, calling for support and stopping vehicles to assist before officials arrived.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later came to the scene to control the area and handle the evacuation.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, and the FRSC spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi, said investigations are ongoing and more details will be provided later.
