Are the Telecoms Operators Now Working Against the People?

As the protest begins today, there have been various reports across the country that internet access has been suppressed and the telecom operators have no answer to the sudden development.

There were also reports that the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) and the National Security Agency are solely behind this slow internet speed across the country to suppress the flow of information within the country and outside the country.

This is a call to note if the telecom operators are working side by side with the federal government against the citizens of the country.

According to the reports, suppressing the flow of information in Nigeria and outside the country will limit protesters from getting instant and quick help from the global space, which will in turn make the unfolding crisis easier for the government to control.

Emeka Mbah, a Rights activist called on President Tinubu to let Nigerians share their frustration over acute hunger and corruption ravaging the country.

Mr Mbah said, “The government can’t take people’s livelihood and still take their voice alongside,” “That is an overreach.”
