Asisat Oshoala Wins Award in Saudi Women’s Premier League

Super Falcons legend Asisat Oshoala has made a strong start to life in Saudi Arabia, winning the Player of the Month award for September 2025 in the Saudi Women’s Premier League.

The 30-year-old striker joined Al Hilal after helping Nigeria win the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco last July.

She has wasted no time proving her worth, scoring three goals and providing two assists in her first three matches for the club.

Her brilliant form helped Al Hilal secure a perfect start to the season with three wins out of three, without conceding a single goal.

Oshoala, who has previously played for Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, and most recently BAY FC in the United States, continues to show why she is regarded as one of Africa’s greatest footballers.

A six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, she also boasts several European titles, including two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies.

In the vote for the award, Oshoala received 56% of the total ballots (37,560 votes), beating Moroccan forward Ibtissam Jraidi of Al Ahli, who finished second with 44%. Al Nassr striker Clara Luvanga, despite leading the scoring chart with four goals, came in third with just 1%.

Her performances have already won the hearts of Saudi fans, who are excited to see one of the world’s most accomplished African footballers shine in their league.

Oshoala’s move to Al Hilal marks another milestone in a remarkable career.

From her early days in Nigeria to her historic success in Europe, and now breaking new ground in the Middle East, she continues to write her story as one of the greatest ambassadors of African women’s football.
