Atiku Rejects Exit Rumours, Confirms 2027 Presidential Ambition
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed rumours of stepping down, affirming his commitment to the 2027 presidential race.
Atiku made it clear that he has not stepped down and that the reports circulating in some media outlets are misleading.

The controversy started after claims that Atiku told the BBC Hausa Service he was ready to give way for a younger candidate. The news quickly spread, sparking debates among political observers who thought the Waziri Adamawa was finally ending his long quest for the presidency.
However, Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, dismissed the claims. He explained that Atiku never said he was stepping aside. Instead, he only stated that it was “not yet time” to make a formal declaration about his 2027 ambition.

“It has become necessary to clarify misrepresentations from some media reports of Atiku’s interview with the BBC Hausa Service,” Ibe said. “After reviewing both the video and transcript, it is clear that at no point did the former Vice President say or even suggest that he was stepping down for anyone.”
With this clarification, Atiku has firmly restated his position in the race, putting to rest rumours that he had abandoned his presidential ambition.
